About Image Compressor

Adjust image format, quality and maximum width to reduce a picture file size. Compare the actual output size with the original before deciding which version to keep.

How to use Image Compressor

  1. Choose the image to compress.
  2. Set the output format, quality and optional maximum width.
  3. Run compression, review the size change and download the result.

Input and output example

Input and settings
photo.jpg
Quality: 74
Output: WebP
Expected output
A WebP image with its resulting size and the measured size change.

Compression savings depend on the source; an output can be larger.

When to use this tool

  • Prepare lighter images for a landing page.
  • Reduce a photo attachment while reviewing visual quality.

Limits to know before using it

A quality slider does not provide equivalent PNG compression. Re-encoding can remove metadata or flatten animation, and a smaller file is not guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Compression ratio depends on the source image and settings. Typical web images see 30–70% size reduction at quality 74 (the default). The result card shows the exact before/after sizes so you can judge the trade-off.

Stripping EXIF and other metadata reduces file size and removes potentially sensitive data (GPS coordinates, device info). Enable it for web images. Disable it if you need to preserve copyright or color profile information.

It resizes the image down to the specified width while maintaining aspect ratio, then compresses it. This is useful when you want to reduce both dimensions and file size in one step. Set it to 0 to skip resizing.
